It is located 129 kilometers northwest of Cusco. To get to Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes, from where there are 2 ways to get to Machu Picchu. 1 way is by bus, which takes 20 minutes, and the other is a tour there that takes 1 ½ hours. For the most adventurous people, we recommend the Inca Trail that lasts 4 days and 3 nights, although there are shorter routes too (Inca Trail 2 Days 1 Night).
How to get to Cusco
One can travel to Cuzco by air from Lima or Arequipa, Lima flights last approximately 1 hour, and Arequipa flights are about 30 minutes away. It is possible to travel to Cuzco by train from Puno, and the trip is approximately 10 hours.
